Meet Your Instructor

Hello, my name is Laurie Graham. I am a Hard of Hearing, CHS SN (Canadian Hearing Services, Signing Naturally) certified ASL Instructor.

My professional background includes over three decades of work in bridging communication, accessibility advocacy, and inclusion for the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities. I have served as an Educational Interpreter, Specialist; Intervenor for DeafBlind individuals, and as a private training consultant.

In the educational sector, I’ve had the privilege of supporting students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Unit at Laurentian High School, as well as learners enrolled in specialized DeafBlind literacy programs. For many years, I served as Program Coordinator and taught the ASL curriculum for the Ottawa‑Carleton District School Board’s Continuing Education Programs. Additionally, I held the role of Program Lead and Coordinator for the Baby Sign and ASL Summer Camp for Children at the Ottawa Deaf Centre.

Following the success of my signing programs in local communities, I was invited by the Parent‑Child Guide Book to serve as a contributing writer, providing a featured article titled “Communication: Infants and ASL” for the Lanark and Leeds regions in early 2009.

I understand that learning a new language can feel intimidating, but you can take comfort in knowing that no prior experience is needed for our Introduction to ASL Workshops or our Prenatal & Signing with Babies Courses. I create a supportive, inclusive space where you’re free to learn at your own pace. Together, we’ll build the skills and confidence to make everyday moments more connected through sign. Your journey into the ASL community begins here — and you’re warmly welcomed every step of the way.

I am dedicated to ensuring you leave our sessions feeling confident and excited to start engaging in genuine connection with those around you.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting your signing journey!
